Universidad Veracruzana (UV) is a public state university founded in 1944 with a strong spirit of social commitment in promoting the welfare of society in the state of Veracruz and Mexico. Established in 5 campuses with presence in 27 urban and rural municipalities throughout the state of Veracruz, its social outreach, artistic, intercultural and sustainability programmes aim to bring together the university’s teaching and research functions and the needs of the productive, public and social sectors.

With more than 75,000 students, and 12,000 scholars and staff, UV is the 13th largest university in Mexico. Its academic activities are organised in 6 areas of knowledge: arts, humanities and social sciences, health sciences, biological and agricultural sciences, basic sciences and engineering, economic and administrative sciences.

Comprising 120 faculties and research centres, and more than 50 cultural and outreach premises established in 27 urban and rural municipalities throughout the state of Veracruz, its social outreach, artistic, intercultural and sustainability programmes bring together the university’s teaching and research functions and the needs of the productive, public and social sectors.

The UV’s sustainability programme aims to integrate all aspects of sustainability in its core activities, as well as in the life, practices and collective worldview of its community and other groups of society.
