ISCN 2020 call for student-led session proposals

ISCN 2021: Accelerating Climate Action and Sustainability in Education

2-4 June 2021 | SwissTech Convention Centre | EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland

As places of knowledge creation and exchange, universities play a key role in addressing the most pressing challenges of our time. Education and research are essential elements in our transition path towards a low-carbon society. Therefore, this year’s ISCN conference focuses on Accelerating Climate Action and Sustainability in Education.

The International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN)

The International Sustainable Campus Network is a global network of over 90 universities that provides an international forum to support higher education institutions in the exchange of information, ideas, and best practices for achieving sustainable campus operations and integrating sustainability in research and teaching. This year’s 14th annual conference will take place at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, between the 24th and 26th of June, 2020.

Student Engagement at the ISCN 2020 conference

The past year was marked by youth action. All over the world, young people are dedicated to ensuring our livelihoods are maintained sustainably. It is important that we as young people contribute our ideas and have active role in forging our future. That is why we would like to have your voice at the conference!

How to get involved

Seize this opportunity and share your ideas and projects with students, scholars and practitioners from around the world. From the 24th to the 26th June 2020, we will meet in Lausanne, which lies on the shores of Lake Geneva and extends to the Lavaux Vineyards, an exceptional UNESCO World Heritage Site. Throughout the conference, we offer space for student-led workshops. What do you want to discuss in these sessions?

Potential track topics can be oriented towards themes like:

  • How to create institutional support for sustainability in education
  • Students as a driving force of sustainability in academic institutions
  • Tackling the climate crisis: accelerating climate action from the perspective of universities and other higher education institutions
  • Mobility as an avenue to reducing carbon footprint
  • Sustainable food: the role of institutions in driving change
  • Project-based learning for sustainable development
